1. The Hotbin Mini Composter 100
Hotbin composter capacity – 100 Litres
The HOTBIN Mini is a slimline hot composter designed for smaller gardens and for keen composters who have less waste. Half the volume of the HOTBIN Mk.2 (200 litre – see below), the HOTBIN Mini is a 100-litre unit, which benefits from all of the features on the Mk.2 model but on a smaller scale. The mini is recommended for average 1-2 person household with or without a small garden.
- Makes composting cleaner, simpler and more accessible for modern households
- Produces compost quickly – mulching in 30 days and general purpose in 90 days
- Reaches 40-60°C for fast and effective composting
- Composts all food and garden waste
- Compact: a better fit for smaller gardens with limited space
- Requires less waste to maintain hot composting temperatures – 2.5kg or 5 litres of waste per week
HOTBIN Mini features a much-requested leachate collection system. Leachate is naturally created as part of the HOTBIN composting process and can be used as a liquid fertiliser. Like the Mk.2 HOTBIN, HOTBIN Mini has a sloped internal base which funnels the liquid towards the drainage cap like water draining from a shower tray. This liquid can be drained via the cap as required. A new tongue and groove join helps improve the lid seal keeping the lid firmly closed preventing water ingress during heavy rainfall and locks in the heat helping the HOTBIN to work even more efficiently.

2. Hotbin Mk.2 Composter
Hotbin composter capacity – 200 Litres
This is the HOTBIN Mk2 compost bin capable of producing compost in just 30-90 days.
The HOTBIN Mk2 compost bin reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill by composting a wider variety of waste, all without the traditional composting problems of odours, flies, turning and tumbling.
Utilising hot composting methods the HOTBIN Mk2 is an aerobic compost bin that produces compost up to 32 times faster than traditional cold composting methods.
With unique insulation properties, the HOTBIN Mk2 reaches temperatures of 40-60°C, composting a wider variety of waste that would ordinarily be possible with a wormery or cold composting. Fruit, vegetable peelings, grass cuttings, leaves, cooked food, meat and even bones can all go in. The high temperatures in the HOTBIN Mk2 will kill off weed seeds, pathogens and fly larvae. In addition to the the HOTBIN Mk2 being a sealed unit, odours commonly associated with composting are controlled with a built-in bio-filter in the HOTBIN lid reducing odours associated with the attraction of flies and vermin.
Dimensions: 115cm high x 55cm x 55cm.
Height with lid open 160.5cm, depth with lid open 67.5cm. The volume is based on the volume of the bin as the composting is an ongoing process the compost produced is infinite.
- 200 litre capacity
- Heats up to 40-60ºC
- Composts food and garden waste
- Excludes vermin and flies
- Large hatch panel
- Biofilter absorbs smells
The HOTBIN Mk.2 incorporates a number of customers requested design features. There is a new leachate collection system allowing for the collection of liquid fertiliser from a built-in tap at the bottom of the unit. An improved seal around the lid locks in even more heat and prevents any water ingress during heavy rainfall. Finally, the protruding hinge on the original bin has been designed into the body of the unit reducing the overall footprint and streamlining the design. As a hot aerobic compost bin, the HOTBIN Mk.2 is able to produce compost 32 times faster than traditional composting methods without the need for any turning or tumbling. Bacteria break down waste and produce heat as a by-product, this heat is then insulated within the HOTBIN allowing the internal temperature to rise. The HOTBIN Mk. 2 is designed and manufactured in the UK. Manufactured from 100% recyclable expanded polypropylene. 3-year manufacturers guarantee for the HOTBIN unit only, this excludes damage caused by wildlife and undue care. 12-month guarantee for the thermometers, kick start bottle, cam straps, rake and filter bag. The MK2 is recommended and designed for an average of 3-5 person household with a small/medium garden. You will need a minimum quantity of 5kg of waster per week to maintain hot composting. (5kg is 10 litres, one large kitchen caddy the average for a UK household.)

8. The Green Cone
The Green Cone composter differs slightly compared to other compost bins. It makes full use of the microorganisms that can be found in the soil below ground-level.
The Green Cone is a four-part moulded unit comprising a lower basket installed below ground, forming the base for an upper assembly. The upper assembly consists of a black inner cone and a green outer lidded plastic cone. The Green Cone reduces food waste to its natural components of water, carbon dioxide and a small residue. The solar-heated garden unit takes all cooked and uncooked food waste including meat, fish, bones, dairy products, vegetables and fruit
The Green Cone needs to be place in a shallow pit that has to be dug out to receive the shape of the bin’s base. This means that the kitchen waste will be below ground-level at the beginning of filling.
The effect of microorganisms will begin immediately and worms will also move in. The waste will break down to its basic components.
Most Green Cones produce so little residue that they will need cleaning only once every few years. The only thing you have to think about is finding a small spot in your garden that gets the sun and has good drainage above the water table, and then you can dig your Green Cone in and let it get to work.
The Green Cone comes complete with a kitchen food waste caddy and a sachet of accelerator powder that will improve the waste digestion process.
- Digests food waste quickly and easily – disposes of food waste ecologically and organically without excess waste
- Low maintenance – simply fill it up and let it get to work, removing the residue approximately once a year
- No turning or spreading – Unlike traditional composters, the green cone pumps the nutrients directly into the soil, so you never need to get your hands dirty
Weight 8.5kg. 38 x 38 x 70 cm.
